McBride for U.S. Senate '08

We are a dying minority. We are all that's left of a dying ideology. Conservatism is dead! How many times have you heard that in the past few weeks? This is the war cry of not only the anti-American Left but also the so called new left tilted wing of the Republican Party. We are being censored. Everywhere I turn someone is telling me that conservatism is a out of touch school of thought. My professor, who will remain nameless,
told a group of captive students that conservatism was dying and that John McCain, Lindsey Graham and other like minded people are redefining conservative thought. I completely reject the idea that the ideas that this country was founded on are dead. After he mentioned Graham I thought it was important to remind him that it was conservative Americans that stood up to McCain, Kennedy, Graham and the other supporters of the Amnesty Bill. I also reminded him about the now infamous bigot comment and to my shock he agreed. Right in my face I was basically called a bigot all over again. I had just been censored. Nothing else I said would be heard.

As a recovering liberal I am somewhat new to conservatism, but how long will we sit back and allow this to happen? When we will rally around our cause and take it back? Even some true conservatives have told me, "you get use to it." I say no, no I will not. I refuse to get use to liberals and big government Republicans hijack our country and destroy the fabric of our founding. I am sick of being censored.

The things I believe in I am told they are just never going to happen. Take the FairTax. Everyone I explain the system to seems to love it yet they all say it will never happen, it will never be passed. Why not? When did we become so complacent? Why do we accept the status quo when we know we can do much better. We need to mobilize conservatives everywhere.

If we continue the fight? If we prove we will continue on we will prevail. We must fight on.

Wow, Rob.
You said it well and your sentiments are shared by SO many people, if they will just be willing to talk about it. I get discouraged by the mere fact that people will allow this to happen to them. The time is right for us to make a change for the future of S.C.
Thank you so much for your help, ideas and concern!

Wow Rob, couldn't have said it better myself. Been meaning to comment on this for a while, but I stay pretty busy on here. Great post though. Keep up the good work.

Rob, good post. But allow me to expand just a bit. The fact of the matter is that conservative values and ideas always win in the arena of ideas. So how do we explain what appears to be a leftward slip in politics?

We can explain it this way. There are NO conservatives running for President. Your candidate, Gov. Romney is now the closest. But his liberal leanings, that were necessary for his election in Massachusetts, set some of us off early on. I have come to his side now and hope he is nominated but the point is, for many conservatives, this lack of good, true conservatives makes it easier for them to sit it out.

We are chomping at the bit to fight it out with the leftists. Conservatives always win, in the arena of ideas. But it is even more demoralizing when alleged conservatives like [INSERT NAME OF FAVORITE RINO HERE] continuously stab their base in the back. They under cut us, some even call us bigots for disagreeing with them. So my conscience can not allow me to support them.

As to the true conservative who told you, that you will get used to it, they are obviously a brilliant person. What that person was telling you is as a conservative you get used to being called names by leftists, liberals, and Democrats. You can't argue with them, as they can not defend their positions without using ad hominum attacks. It is a new thing to be called a bigot by my Republican Senator. I am certain that is what they meant. Being attacked by a Republican, someone who campaigned on a platform that he had the same values as me, really angered me.

That is who I am going to fight....more so then the leftists.

And don't sweat that instructor...he is an idiot. You are just getting in a little sparring practice in his class.
