Veterans' Health Care System Needs to be Changed!
My husband and I met Mark at the FairTax rally held in Myrtle Beach on January 10th where he mentioned the new system he is proposing. Basically, it would replace the VA hospitals and clinics with a system much like medical insurance. The veterans would be issued a card that could be used at any medical facility to receive medical care paid for by the VA.
I would just like to say that this is WAY PAST DUE!! The current system takes MONTHS and MONTHS to get appointments scheduled and, once seen by a doctor, it's a different doctor each time. Also, at the VA hospital in Charleston, the majority of the "physicians" are really students who are being supervised by an actual doctor. While serving with the USMC in Iraq during the first gulf war, my husband was inflicted with a rash which he showed to Mark at the rally. After over 15 years, the VA STILL cannot cure this skin condition!! That is OUTRAGEOUS!!
I feel sure that if he were allowed to see an actual dermatologist this condition could be cleared up or at least better controlled. Please EVERYONE get behind Mark's proposal for this new Veterans' Health Care system - please don't let another "agent orange" problem continue for 20 more years! Remember, we've got young men and women over there right now who are undoubtledy being exposed to this same thing and who will have to endure the pain and agrivation that my husband has for all these years!
