McBride for U.S. Senate '08

there is absolutely no reason for oil prices to be this high in this country.

There are vast oil fields located in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico that are there for the taking. All we need is the guts to go get it. But, again we cut off our nose to spite our face by ruling that we can not drill for oil because of some unknown environmental problem, or the environmental problem of the week....which ever suits them better.

The fact is that as long as India and China increase their demand for Saudi and Middle Eastern oil, that price will continue to go up. Thats just basic economics 101.

We could influence the price of gas at the pump for the average American ( By average, I mean those of us who go to school or work everyday, and then go on vacation for a week in the summer) by drilling in ANWAR and by building some new oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico, right beside the Chinese and Cuban ones that are already there.

I believe that by simply announcing our intention to drill and our intention to build new oil rigs and refineries, we would see an immediate drop in price at the pump.

But, as easy as it is to drill for new oil reserves in our own country, it won't be easy. In fact, some radical environmentalist would have me put into a camp simply for saying that it should be done. It is going to take some strong, courageous, and resolute leadership to get that done. We are going to need a leader who is unafraid of what the left wing environmentalist are going to say about them. Because they will run any politician who voices that idea through the mud....twice. We are going to need a leader, who has values...American values...South Carolina values. Not the least of which is a burning desire for independence...both political as well as energy. Anyone know someone like that??

Energy independence is even easier than that. Off the coast of Florida is an energy source that, between Miami and Palm Beach, can produce the electrical energy equivalent to 5 Hoover Dams. And the best part is there is no environmental impact.

Unfortunately, because of the perversion of our laws, a patent has become a public disclosure and a license to steal. You cannot patent a concept, and any mechanical design can be engineered around to avoid any patent infringement. Translation: the little guy comes up with a practical solution and, if he goes to patent it, big industry will steal it and he gets the shaft.

Maybe Senator McBride will stand up for the little guy.

I have not heard of this...Where can I go to research it? I would like to more about it.

My dad and I developed the concept before he died. I still have the plans, but there's no incentive for me to pursue it because no one will look at it unless it's patented, and by getting a patent, it's a public disclosure which anyone can engineer around.

I feel the 5 Hoover Dam equivalent is probably conservative.

WOW! Gordon, that sounds awesome. It's too bad we can't get that operating. Maybe Senator McBride can get that changed....

i think the ANWAR thing is a bad idea. it would be a lot of money with very little output--it is estimated that if we got everything out of ANWAR, it would decrease our dependency over the next 20 years by only 1-2%. what gordon speaks of sounds like it would power us as long as the ocean exists, right? far-sighted genius-ry. i love it!

You are absolutely correct. There is plenty of oil , coal and natural gas in and around the United States.

Both political parties in this country are running nutcases who believe in man made "global warming" and who care more for the habitat of the polar bear and the caribou than they care about what you and I have to pay for gasoline at the pump.

There are plenty of good solid leaders in South Carolina. Unfortunately, those like Gov. Sanford are not in any position to do anything about the need to drill. Other leaders like you and I do not have any name ID or money, thus little shance to get in any position to fix this mess.

That is a good reason for us to work hard to elect Mark McBride to the US Senate.
